ARNS Mission statement
The Association of Respiratory Nurse Specialists (ARNS) exists to
promote a higher level of respiratory nursing practice through
leadership, education and professional development and to influence the
direction of respiratory nursing care. |
This
is a website for health professionals; If you are a person with a lung
condition your interests may be better served by visiting The British Lung Foundation or Asthma UK.
It is not appropriate for people with a lung condition to seek advice
from health professionals using the ARNS Discussion Forum, thank you. |
The Dept of Health publishes National Strategy for COPD consultation document
The Department of Health (DH) has published the consultation document for the National Strategy for COPD, (for England) which is a draft version of the National Strategy. They want to hear the views of anyone who works with people with COPD, as well as people with COPD and their carers. This feedback is an important part of the overall consultation process, which also includes the SHA regional events that occurring in March/April.
This is effectively the very final stage of a long and extensive process that has involved much stakeholder engagement, so the consultation will run for only 6 weeks. ARNS is planning to submit a response to this consultation, so that the voice of Respiratory Nurse Specialists is collectively represented and recognised. We really want to hear your views whatever they may be either brief or extensive.
Please send these to info@arns.co.uk with “National Strategy for COPD Consultation Feedback” in the title before 26th March
The Consultation document can be viewed here |
ARNS ANNUAL CONFERENCE - "Leading - Inspiring - Empowering"
7th and 8th May Scarman House, Warwick Conferences, Coventry
In response to many requests from the membership we have moved the annual conference from November to spring. In addition to updates regarding the Clinical Strategy for COPD, some of the conference sessions will include nursing leadership, palliative care, asthma control from a different aspect, mesothelioma, lung transplant for COPD and will also include by popular request a real patient experience again. In addition we shall have some clinical workshops and the opportunity to attend either clinical or non clinical parallel sessions. For those new members to ARNS, the conference offers a great opportunity for lots of networking - learn and share clinical experience and service developments all within a motivating and “buzzing” environment.
Poster Abstracts:
For this years conference we are requesting abstracts for poster presentations. Examples could be service developments, research studies, audits or anything that you feel would be of interest to other ARNS members. There will be prizes for the first and second best posters, (deadline date for submission of abstracts 1st April 2010).
